I posted this in a different forum on the Samba and received a lot of views, but no replied and thought someone could answer the question. Thanks

First off I’m not trying to make my late model look like an early model bug, but am working towards an idea I have in my head. I’m still undecided about whether to use bumpers or T-bars and am leaning towards the T-bars. I have read a lot and searched on the forum, but have not found my answers. It appears the openings for mounting a bumper or T-bar is lower on the rear fender for an early versus a late model, is this correct? Next question is can an early fender mount on a late model rear apron? And if the answer to these questions is yes, do I use an early T-bar or late model and would the late model need fabrication?
Thanks,
David

Yes the fender will fit, but the bracket mount is where the difference lies.

Hate being dumb but what is a T Bar? Is it the same as Nerf Bar?

This was a 1970 with earlier aprons and nerf bars. Do a search for DIY Nerf Bars and you can see the rear apron too.

It appears the late bars ride a little higher in the rear than the ones with early fenders. The openings in the late model fender seem higher up the fender. It may just be my eyes, but would like the t-bars a little lower in the rear.
