85 1.9 watercooled engine. All components of fuel system have been replaced. How do you prevent this engine from vapor lock and shut down of engine in hot weather?

Fuel injected engines don't tend to get vapor lock as most of the fuel system is under high pressure and there is constant flow of cool fuel through the system. Does you pump make a lot of noise? If it does that would be an indication that there was problem on the suction side of the pump.

I'd check the charcoal canister to see if it is plugged up. This is what caused the same issues on my van. Wife was about ready to get rid of the van till we solved this problem.

My 1.9 Digijet has never vapor locked and we often drive in 100+ temps, sometimes temps 'in the teens' as we say in AZ.

Just so I'm clear -- you saying a running engine suddenly shuts down? Or is this a failure to start after stopping from a hot drive?

You might describe the circumstances a bit (fuel pump still runs?, starter cranks okay?, etc) so all possible causes can be considered.
