The VW code is L331 , you need the PPG code . The paint store should be able to bring it up , but they might not be able to make it in all types of paint ( lacquer , enamal , urethane , base / clear) . If you are set on PPG and they cn't make it in the type paint you want , PPG has a fleet color book with color chips that you can find a code that will be real close , if you are painting the whole car you would never know (make sure to keep the code in a safe place , for future touchup) . If you aren't set on PPG products Sikkens and Glasurit both have formulas for VwW paint codes in the modern paint systems . TROY _________________ Pres. Rivercity VW Club www.rcvwclub.org

I'll probably get destroyed for bringing up a 20-year-old post.. but has anyone found this color available anywhere? My local PPG guy can't even pull up the 11667 PPG code. Has anyone painted with this color in recent years and found an alternative? |

Did he use the VW code or look it up by Year, make, model. I know with RM, sometimes the codes not there, but by year, make, model it will show the color. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

They tried both and no good. I brought my hood down and had them scan the underside of it. Got a pint. It's way too dark and grey though. I want it to be original color but if I'm gonna shoot the "match" I may as well just paint it black.
Any other ideas out there? |

Don't use PPG. What line were you going to get? Concept? Glasurit is a fixed price now, right around $1300 per gallon. You could get RM which is still a high quality line from BASF, only one tier down from Glasurit for about half that probably. _________________ '67 Beetle L41

I've used Omni as my basecoat on my last few projects. No complaints there.
Where can I get BASF from? |
