Just FYI here's a shot of the front reinforcements of the shock towers, you can see the extra metal traced in red.
This extra bracing was available on Euro 14" Syncros as the M468 "rough road" option which also included a sturdier spare tire pan.
And here's the bracing in the rear of the 16" vans.
Unfortunately I don't have a shot of the bracing of the B pillar. _________________ Currently:

Thanks for the info about reinforcements.
OddN - I don't know where the "thicker metal" got into my brain, but I picked it up somewhere.
Ms. Taboo- thanks for the pic's...it's so nice and white! I knew about these bits as I definitely wanted to confirm they were on mine when I got it ! _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Not that big of a re-inforcement, but I guess it it is big enough to do it's job.

Does anyone have a source for the front outer CV Joints? (with Locker).
Brickwerks in the UK and Van-Cafe in California are both out of stock right now.
Thanks _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Have you tried emailing Brickwerks? It's worth doing so if you haven't yet as they might have more details regarding this stock issue, and when they anticipate new stock being available. _________________ 1988 LHD T25 1.6TD Westfalia Club Joker syncro |

I am signed up on their notification list for them, but an email cannot hurt! _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Any idea what a complete set of Original Syncro 16 wheelset in excellent condition will sell for?
These would be a set of 5 sand blasted and powder coated to match the original color.
Thanks

Last spring I paid $150.00 each for a set of 4. Freshly powder coated.
Shipping was $300.00 (ouch). California to Florida. _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Wiring Diagrams... this is for the folks who have exported the Syncro 16's out of Europe.
I know that the Bentley and VW's wiring works for the most part, but obviously not all the time.
Plus the Bentley schematics I'm seeing are specifying US or Canada models.
For basic commonality and saving money VW has most of the systems are the same, but there are some differences.
Since the Syncro 16's are all Euro spec how much difference is there in the wiring schematics/diagrams from what I am seeing in the Bentley?
Is there a wiring schematic available that is just for the European vehicles that I can get my hands on? _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

I have't studied the Bentley wiring diagrams but I have a pdf copy of the original vw wiring diagram. It includes all models and all special equipment available as optional extras right down to the special Norwegian/Swedish automatic driving lights, electric rear seats of the Euro spec Caravelle Carat and all the minor annual changes like different ground wire positions.
But I do not think there is a single 16-inch syncro specific diagram. The closest i can think of is the original wiring for decoupler operation. Originaly available on all syncros, but hardly ever ordered on a 14 inch. _________________ 1991 VW Multivan syncro 1,9 TD

No, I do not think there is a Syncro 16 specific diagram, just the generic version that all the models are based on and expanded from there for the various options as you are saying.
I should have been more clear on that.
Would it be possible be able to get a copy of that pdf please? _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

While I am talking about electrics.
The Fuse/Relay panel across the years 86-91 is the same internally. They didn't make any modifications to it did they?
It's a "Swiss watch" inside there with the way they routed all the brass so i can't see VW wanting to change that!
Has anyone done a map of the Fuse connections on the front to the terminals on the back and to the relay terminals?
If you follow the wiring schematics you can find them, but it would be easy to just look up the connection without having to search the schematic for it.
Just curious on that one! _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.
