|
|
As a little weekend project I made a site that transformed the format of the old AIRS (Aircooled Interstate Rescue Squad) site into a more current format. The old site hasn't been updated for about 3 years, and was hard to navigate.
The old site was pretty popular, and there were plenty of success stories. There are about 1500 listings there, which transferred over to the site I made. I've attempted to make the new one a little more secure than the old one (you can't see full names or contact information unless you've registered, so that should prevent web crawlers from picking up the info). So, if you think you'd be willing to help out a fellow VWer, feel free to register.
Anyway, check it out
Questions, comments, etc are welcome. _________________ 74 Bay + 93 Corrado SLC + 2015 TDI Wagon

Thanks.
The folks over at type2.com weren't too happy about me crawling their site, so I had to remove the old info...heh. I think a lot of it was inaccurate anyway, so not the end of the world. Anyway, plenty of new registrations have continued, so it's going well. _________________ 74 Bay + 93 Corrado SLC + 2015 TDI Wagon

Twitter Bootstrap, eh?
Sorry, I'm a bit of a web developer myself. But this is pretty awesome, do you have any plans on doing a developer API? If so whenever I get around to learning to do iPhone apps, we could possibly make an app that will show people in the area from your phone. _________________ My '71 Bus |

Certainly is Bootstrap. I recognize that modal popup anywhere A Dev API would be pretty awesome (would work great for a project I have in mind - which could also drive registrations...)
Note - having problems registering - and there is a bug in the login/register prompt in that once it has the #logreg hash in the url it won't popup again.

I agree that the AIRS list should be on thee most central, air-cooled site in the world. It just makes sense. AND an APP is an inspired idea!
It's a shame it's acting as wonky as a lemon bus. The AIRS list was the inspiration for our documentary, Circle the Wagen, (here comes the plug), which is having it's world premiere in Albuquerque on June 9th, at the Albuquerque Film & Media Experience.
Check out the trailer, it mentions the AIRS list. I mention it every time I talk about the film(which is nearly daily); people are fascinated about it.

Nice idea, but when is this actually going to do anything? Right now, I can't even edit my profile. Beyond that, it appears that there is no content. What are we registering for? What indication is there that this isn't some sort of ploy or scam? How about fulfilling the site's promise? You would most likely get the volume of applicants that you desire if that were the case...
I'll admit, the AIRS list is full of bad or outdated information, but it's still better than promises. At least it's something.
Sorry about the caustic nature of this post, but c'mon... It's a great idea, just follow through. _________________ Mike

I'm able to edit my profile. Did you originally sign up for this site? I know Chris had imported info from the AIRS list and the people of the AIRS list were not happy about that so he pulled that info off. Maybe he missed yours?
I have emailed Chris and have gotten responses unlike any other site like this. |

chrisd1891 that's fantastic! I think that the AIRS moderator should turn over the reigns to you & just pushes everyone to your much improved site. I gave it a push on Circle the Wagen's LIKE page & I'll start making some noise about it. |

I've tried repeatedly to register and am having no luck at all. Fill out the whole form and hit "save" and moments later, it's all just blank again. Nice idea, but something ain't right. |
