|
|
I have been planning on building a 1776 but money is a problem right now. I am now planning on a 1641, my original problem was #2 not burning fuel it was sucking air just fine (dual dellortos) When I pulled the head and valves I found the #2 exhaust valve guide had be replaced or ground down as seen in the picture. The valves are straight and move freely just not sure what to make of this...
any opinions or thoughts? _________________ 73 Camper Tin Top/Type 4 1.8 engine, Single progressive EMPI carb, electronic ignition SVDA W/ Vacuum.
Really appreciate what Everett has done here. Almost like he hand picked some of you. I am very thankful for all the help I get here. |

Probably was replaced, as long as it's not loose you're fine. The intake however needs to be ground on the tip, it's hammered. _________________ Build thread: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=212747

What is the issue?? The guides seem fine.
Yes the tips need re-dressed and chamfered. You need a valve grinder to do this. Might as well grind the seats too and re-flycut the sealing surfaces. |
