Have known about this bus for years but just today read through the entire thread. All I can say is stellar!!!
Question though, why the change to the "later" style tent? More privacy I presume? _________________ Don't take life too serious....you won't get out of it alive! |

Thank you for the kind words. I still have the flat top tent and use it for shade but when I am camping I like the additional room the later style tent gives me. I do have an original early the tent with the widest that I hope to start putting to use. _________________ SOUTHERN INTEGRITY AIRCOOLERS

I have enjoyed the extra room with the later style tent, so with some persuasion from another enthusiast, I have decided to try and make a new top and sides for my westy - the original tent that came with my bus had the snap on the top for the sides, but the sides were missing. I am hoping someone can help me with some pics and measurements of the sides.
here is the material i had matched to a piece of the original tent that came with my bus

Have you tried reaching out to samba user WAF-VW 53. He had a complete flattop Westy tent he posted pics of back in 2013:

haha - i guess i could rock the original tent..
I sent a sample of the original material that was folded on the bottom side of the tent to a company in North Carolina and they came up with this match - It is the same weight of the original material and the color is printed on the fabric. I could not get a company to recreate the material in small quantities so i elected to get it printed. _________________ SOUTHERN INTEGRITY AIRCOOLERS

That's a photo of the SO22 Camping Box from the 1958 Camping Fair in Essen Germany. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

SO22? That early? Maybe a standard campingbox you mean. I also saw that photo and was dying for a couple more angles. Most interested in the fact it was a sunroof. Thanks for the info on the event name. |

Apparently it was the introduction of the SO22 by VW at this show. This picture was also on the front cover of the December 2014 issue of the Westfalia Register Post. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches

I love the full length sloper-in-front (and rear?) rack. |

My wife and I have been wanting a caravan for a while now. We were waiting for the right one to come up for sale. We are super happy with our new purchase
