Be sure to wear a respirator when working inside the bus as mold spores can be very unhealthy (I'm sure you know this). I would pull everything out (carefully cataloged) and then spray it down with a water/bleach combo.
For the fabrics you could try first brushing/vacuuming them and then soaking in something like oxyclean in a kiddie pool (or something else color safe) to try and get all the mold spores killed. |
You best know zuggbug knows PPE. He puts this suit on just to go outside.

Wow, nice...I'm glad it made its way to a bus guy. Nothing against the other kind, but this one deserves the kind of care taken by someone who already knows what he's got.
10 years ago, that poor tent probably looked a LOT better, along with the rest of it. Really great Westy, tho...
Looking forward to the progress! |

the body is ok, it has some issues, but nothing serious.
here are a few more pics from Nathan before I picked the bus up.
if you are curious as to all the white stuff on the cabinets - YES its MOLD
and if you look close at the last pic - that is the original floor mat as well as the tent poles (under the bus) for the flat top tent.
I wish I could have picked this bus up 10 years ago. _________________ SOUTHERN INTEGRITY AIRCOOLERS

I was not sure if I wanted to continue this thread, but then I realized how much I enjoy seeing other people post their builds, so I decided to take the time to share with the samba community.
Here are some pics that Nathan sent me prior to sealing the deal
I received the BC and it's a march 56 Wolfsburg dove blue Kombi. _________________ SOUTHERN INTEGRITY AIRCOOLERS

no offense man! I just wanted see if you were interested in swapping for my 2004 Philippino assembled splitscreen hyundai/vw cross with glass reinforced co-polymer nose, custom interior made from recycled timber and stretch lycra and a matching awning/tent that looks... just like a hyundai/vw cross. I was even going to throw in the 3.5" popup lcd screen. But with that kind of attitude I guess I'll just wait for the next almost complete 57 westy to pop up. |
