Hello everyone,

It's me. And I can't sleep at all with this football gear on. Crying or Very sad

Brace that held my elbows at right angles from my chest was removed yesterday. Arms and hands are atrophied significantly, making it hard to use my "puter" for now.

This will be very short, as I am in a LOT of pain and discomfort... please understand.

Update:
i have an awesome daughter!! Thanks Marynn!

~6.5hrs scheduled time on table
"Unexpected complications" were MUCH more bone material that needed to be removed. Details later.

42=hrs in ICU
'Under a lot of heavy dudty meds and was able to semi-use my dvices.

6 Total days at Stanford.

Home Sunday near 12am.

Bed-ridden since Thursday.

Marynn dictates public update fro her Father.

Traded old Football gear for new football gear Friday around 3pm allowed to leave.

At this time.... pain is worse now than when I came home.

Thanks for the calls of concern and offers of any help that I/we may need from fellow OVP members during this time... It is hard for me to accept it out loud guys, but WILL need your help, even if I am too proud to ask for it everyone. I love you guys and I hope to be ale to see everyone in person this year!!

BUT everyone, (shows?), Please remember to be gentle with me, NO "Bro-Hugs"!! I feel like I am as brittle as a 14 year old little girl. Rolling Eyes

More later as I get used to using my arms and hand again, this message took a lot of effort to type out to post. Very Happy

Best,
Damian

Hey Bus Ryder.
Just read all of this post. Two days after your procedure on March 6th I had a fusion of my S1 and C5. Although not as complicated as yours I can relate to the anxiety and trying to keep your family calm.
Two years ago I had a laminectomy and discectomy of the S-1 and C5. Two years later in September 2012 I woke up one morning and could not walk or get out of bed. I literally could not force my leg to take a step, very scary. The disc's looked like your in your images, so my procedure two years ago did not work.
I tried all the cortisone shots, facet blocks and nothing worked.
For this procedure I have a new doctor and he's awesome and straight forward which is what I like.
I'm still in a special made brace and walking is getting better but I still rely on a walker to get around the house. I'm not really in pain but more of lower back muscle spasms and soreness from where they had to pull them apart to get to the vertebrae.
I just turned 40 in August of last year but have had many auto accidents ( only 1 my fault) and have held many labour type jobs for 25 years so I'm sure that's takin alot of toll on my body.
Hang in there and be mind to your body and back form here on out.

Damn Damian. It sounds like you're going through hell. I'm assuming they've shot a bazillion films since the surgery. Are they happy with what they're seeing?

It's good you have your family to help. It sounds like you're going to have to step up and get Maryann a p-o-n-y, she's earned it. (Even children that can spell can't break the parent code of spelling things out.) LOL

Best of luck and speedy recovery from South of San Antonio. (If you float down shit creek without a paddle, just knock when you get to my house.)

I understand the anxiety. I just had an MRI today to help find the source of a pinched nerve, my right arm tingles, middle/index fingers, and is painful quite often. I've tried drugs[advil is my savior] and a great chiropractor for the last five moths to relieve this crud. While it has improved to bearable, I am now stepping it to the next level of possible surgery. Good luck to you Busryder and others.

Very Happy

Hi everyone!

K.t., Zozo... I got yelled at.

I'm composing a response now... although the mechanix of posting aren't super easy for me right now, I do have updates, news, and I still have to explain the "Unexpected Complications" while on the table too... oh!, also a shitload (NOT really) of pic's to post of what needs to be buffed out (You know... 'pics or it ain't happened', right? Very Happy)....

...and I had to figure out a Photobucket.com account to host OTVW images from on top of all this, too. I couldn't figure out how to link to the Instagram that I started pre/op Confused from my "puter".
Embarassed

Anyway... I'm working on it now, in Word, yay, just in case TS pukes all the effort it took right out into cyberspace, boo.... Laughing

I probably will not be able to get it all out in one sitting though, so just with bear me please... but the meds and foodball gear are helping out some though.

I'll try to finish up enough to post up tonight though.

Best!!
Very Happy

wj32796, good luck to you bro... this ain't NO fun at all. Seriously.

^ Pray ^

Does anyone know Damian that could check in with him and se how he's doing? He was having a rough go of it from the surgery and some associated complications.

I'd just like to know that one of our own that was down, is getting better.

Thanks in advance.

Still nothing? Certainly someone on here knows Damian and could contact him through a phone call to his family. It seems obvious that he's having issues, or he'd have been back on the board posting.

Not a peep in 8 weeks. It would be really nice if someone that knows Damian would reach out to him and make sure he's recovering.

If you read this Damian, I hope you're doing better and on the road to a complete recovery.
