'67 Subaru Powered Fastback (It's Alive!)

I’m hearing that the Subaru gears set up pushes the engine back too far. A VW tranny works fine.

Hay ya'll.

I have a 69 Fastback that I am interested in doing this to. This was a air conditioned car, that has to oblong holes and grills in the front.

It is a automatic transmission car too. I have had 3 Squarebacks but I own a 1968 angle chop top Squareback. A Kid Dean Clone.

I don't want to do the Squareback.

The 69 has low back seats in it.

Anyway. Transmission wise, should I use the Surbarugears Transmission? I want to add A/C back to it and The Subie engine should be up to the task.

Thanks man. I was using an ebay/chinese unit, but now using dodge neon. This is the third cooling system redo, and I am probably going to change it again at some point.

So the fasty is getting closer and closer to being "done". Andy the suby swap guy (littlebuggie) has been cleaning up the install quite a bit. Check it out:

Radiator is completely sealed and hidden now

Intake sucking air from the stock location, with filter box. Also notice the fully functional dipstick/oil fill

And most importantly, the engine fits under the cover now

Once you get to the point in a project where you have to hire someone to do the things you don't have the skills to do, you have to be patient. For me, that's mostly fabrication and bodywork. Unfortunately, those are the things that take the longest . . .

Updates; I have been on a quest to make this swap look as stock as possible. That said, I can't have the intake and alternator sticking up out of the back like this. It's time to make it so the engine lid is back where it belongs. I'll also have a fully operational oil fill/dipstick in the stock location.
