PostPosted: Tue Mar 12, 2013 3:43 pm    Post subject: So 23 Childs Cot Pole Bracket Pics Reply with quote

Hey all, I did some searching but have had no luck, I am looking for pictures of where the brackets are located for the cot pole to hook into. Are the spilit pole ends similar to the bay window version? I have the brackets but no poles and am hoping to make them if I can get a couple of pics.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are the SO-23 poles and brackets the same as an SO-42? SO-42 poles, cot and brackets are totally different than the bay window.

So are those brackets the same as the cargo door strap brackets? They look the same, which means I have the wrong ones.

the brackets in the pic posted by vwboop are incorrect and do look cargo door check strap brackets. while they might work, the correct ones are aluminum.

looking at the pics again seems like the so23 cot brackets are the same as the so42 except that you only require two of them for so23's and four for so42's

here is a pic pf the so42 bracket

Just noticed the 60 at Colome Motors has that same black cargo door strap bracket. Same ones pictured in the link on the SO23 registry site

The cot pole ends are different than later westys and bay window. I had the measurements here from the pole I had on my old bus but somehow misplaced them. A friend and I were going to do a short run of the poles as so23westfalia.com has stopped business some time ago.

I will draw the end of the pole and try to get it posted here although I wont have the measurements. It is kind of an odd shaped end actually, not sure it needs to be this shape to work, I guess it depends if you are going for correct or just making it work. The pole part hangs down below the end 'clip' piece that hooks in the bracket.

There is a crappy pic in the gallery from my '55, sorry can't link here right now as the gallery seems to be down...will try later.

edit: crappy pics

okay so my graphic skills suck but hopefully you get the idea. of course it should be symmetrical on each side of the 'clip' part that goes in the bracket. PM if you have questions.

Anyone know the diameter of this cot pole? Is it the same diameter as a SO-42/early round bay pole?

In the thread in tent poles it is mentioned that the cot pole was smaller diameter but no specifics.
I just ordered the hammock thing and need to make one myself so hopefully someone will let us know.

The reproduction one in the pics above was smaller than a late cot I believe. I had kept the measurements at the time but have no idea what happened to them.
