Have to stomp on brake pedal to get brake lights to come on? Try adjusting the brakes correctly at all four drums. I witnessed this myself just this last weekend, definitely helped restore correct brake light function.

And it's free.

Might have a bit of crud clogging the end of the brake light switch. It happened to me, I just cleaned it out and it fixed the problem...

So, is this kinda like a built-in warning system to let you know that your brakes need to be adjusted?

Just passing on that iffy brake light operation on a 1975 VW was cured by adjusting the brakes all around.

Not on my VW. I adjust my brakes at least once a year.

Just curious................don't you have to be pretty quick to get out of the car and run back behind it before the brake lights go out? Laughing

Kind oh like trying to see if the light goes out when you close the refrigerator door. d'oh!

Well,........we all gotta have some fun sometimes.
