After cut'n hole and fill'n ignition switch hole, I took a flat sheet of 20 guage and wheeled a little shape into it

This is very inportant, I split line down middle as I cut. There should not be any gap in weld joint.

Now after grinding and file'n, I drill holes for delete plate chrome strip and relocate the wiper switch and headlight swith next to ash tray

Never fails ! Had the shell in booth and ready to paint!! Then thought what the hell, Lets cut the heater vents out !! Here is a few shots doing just that.

Thanks ! Yes they are tig welds. I use .023 thick rod and I turn the amps down real low, About one amp per thousand's of a inch of material I'm welding. So if I am welding .037 thou material , I run about 35-40 amps on machine.

Most people would slap filler over the metal work and nobody would know the difference.

Good metal fabricators aren't too hard to find, they just want $$$$$$$$$ for the work.

You make it look so easy. And I know it takes time and patience to do it right.

Very Impressive work, looks incredible!

Odd sidebar- did you have a early black ghia BITD? I remember it had fuchs any was in a major collision at one point, but looked amazing when the owner got done with it.

I did have a black early ghia, About 20 years ago. The plate said RUF HUH. If you look in the ghia thread on here, I have posted pictures of ghia stuff I have worked on. Again thanks
