There is no wire on D.

1970 Ignition Switch Removal

ignition barrel on Type 2's

Drilling the ignition lock

Dip problem is usaully
Bad connection at Dip relay.
Bad dip Relay.
Dip switch in turn signal switch.

Key on lights on. Ground the brown wire from the dip relay. If it switches to the brights. Problem is in the dip switch or wiring to it.

Pictures would be cool.
