Anyone else's refund status "processing" for what seems like an eternity? Mine has been in this status for over three weeks. _________________ KK4NTP

Well - really if you do it right, you shouldnt have one - You never want Uncle Sam to be your savings account and I normally run it really close. But was able to afford to buy some stuff for the business that I needed before the end of the year. So it gets dumped into the "Oh shit" fund.
And related, but not - If you have a CD, double check your current interest rate...Just discovered that mine was down to like 0.2%. Just cashed it out and doing something else that at least gets me 3%.
But on the delay - my understanding that some of the IRS forms are still being approved, which holds things up. Our CPA does ours, so I dont know the particulars on whether it holds up being able to file or not. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

This is the first year that we have used a CPA. It just started to get too complicated with my wife's new business. Odd that this is the first year that it has become held up. _________________ KK4NTP

Couple suggestions - use something like Quickbooks for the business and set it up in conjunction with your CPA (real important)- At year end, all I do is make a backup and he uploads it and away we go. Our tax meeting is less than an hour, he has everything he needs and I know about how much I owe or will get back. Saves a lot of time and money.
We also will meet briefly in the fall (same deal - do a back up and he reviews it during the meeting). I already have a good idea how the year is looking because I monitor my budget and projections (all done in Quick books). He will advise whether it would make sense to make purchases now or wait till January, if we want to amortize anything differently, etc.
And really and truly, with your delay, its very possible that the IRS is the issue - I lucked out in that some of the forms that we had to file were approved earlier in the year. But there were one or two that delayed us from submitting the return for a couple weeks. Seriously - can you freaking believe that Congress was still approving tax forms FOR 2012 in the middle of tax season? _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

Thanks, I have said that very thing every year this topic comes up when people get so excited about getting a check back. It boggles my mind, change your deductions and keep your money instead of letting someone else borrow it all year. _________________ Schrodinger's cat walked into a bar and it didn't.

I have mine set up so I don't have to pay any money to them. I don't get a set amount of hours consistently all year long. But if I had a guaranteed 40hr+ then I would try to 0 it out _________________ "My Daddy told me, son if your stupid today you will be stupid tomorrow"

Finally got my 19 year old daughter to understand that this year. Wanna $1000 refund next year? Throw $85/month in a savings account. You'll at least get a couple dollars in interest. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

I had my refund about 5 days after filing.
Too bad I found an error my tax preparer made and had to pay about 90% of it back to the IRS. _________________ Eric

6 weeks so far for mine. But I'll have to then file a 1040X (amended) as I received tax information in the mail after I had filed, unless the feds fix it for me.
State (AZ) - haven't filed yet, I owe. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each.
