|
|
A customer of mine's daughter has a beat 2001 Cabriolet with 14" wheels. We're trying to find hubcaps for it. There seems to be a break in application in 1999, for some reason. They seem to go 93- 99 and then '99- 03. Are the differences just cosmetic? Will the earlier factory wheel covers fit the wheels on the '01? I don't want to snag a set on eBay just to find they won't work.
The Cabrio in question just has bare black factory steel wheels.
Also- will any 14" factory plastic cover work- E.G., Jetta, Passat?
Thanks for any insight. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

The change in the hubcaps matches a change in the wheels. VW changed where the valve stem is located in the rim. I don't recall which is which right now (early versus late), but one has the valve stem across from a slot in the rim, and the other has it across from a spoke on the rim. I hope that makes sense. Otherwise the wheels look very similar. _________________ I will never lie, but sometimes the truth changes.

Yes, it makes sense, but does that prevent a cap that fits up to 99 fitting on an '01 car?
Incidentally, it's interesting to me that everybody's chart indicates that either early or late caps will fit a 1999 car, unless the charts are wrong. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

The hubcap you're looking for is a 1H0601147AFED. It's a silver design with lots of short spokes at the outer perimeter. According to my info they're Cabrio specific, but the rims are the same from 97 to early 99 Golfs / Jettas. So that'll broaden your hubcap range - slightly. Or you can always go for moon discs or those bitchin spinner hubcaps! |

The Golf/Jetta range changed body styles in 99, and while the Cabrio didn't it was facelifted to match the Golf/Jetta change. _________________ I will never lie, but sometimes the truth changes.
