Are the 60's flat windshields larger that the earlier ones?

Thanks

Actually somewhere in 64 for the 65 model year they changed to the slightly curved windshield glass. The windshield may have gotten taller then also, all other windows did. When I parked my '64 sedan next to '66 it was obvious.

I had a 64 convertible and when I ordered a new windshield I found out. I just ordered parts as if it was a 63 from then on.

Hey, thanks for correcting me Embarassed Do the flat ones fit the 64 or 65 and up?

The truly flat ones are 64 down, 65 and up have a slight curve. People sometimes call them flat because they are comparing them to the later super beetle ones, which are really curved.

OK - So the 63 windshield is larger than the earlier years. Because since I have a new 63 that is 1/2" too small, I could sell it to someone to have cut to the earlier size. Right?

Here's the breakdown-
1943-57
1958-64
1965-71

Yes, a 1958-64 windscreen can be cut to fit a 1957-earlier, but it's not easy to do. Windscreens are usually 2 pieces of glass laminated together

Yes - Someone would have to have a glass shop do it.

A good glass shop can cut it for you, if you have the old one as a pattern, or they have a pattern. I've got my old 57 windshield at the glass shop getting a new one cut for it and tinted along the top since I sit very low in the car and the cage will interfere with the visors.
