Is there somewhere else I should look for any type of stamping on this case as so far I have found nothing:
Maybe something here?
Bus is a 67 SO-42 with an unidentified single port motor which I don't know the history of (other than it runs pretty well).
Thanks. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

Look for the words "Hencho en Mexico" - I had single port motor a few years back with no trace of a serial number. |

Type 3 case?? Check if the dip stick tube is an added bolt on adapter.
Back in the day you could buy an engine case without any ID number from any VW dealer so it could be stamped with your old engine number. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

No words that I can see and the dip stick looks normal:

That plate in the image bolted to the case is for type 3. You have a universal replacement engine case. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Good/Bad? Would it be equivalent to what the original case would be (H case)? or something later, maybe dual relief? I'm going to have it gone thru but would like to re-use the case if it specs out. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

Depends on what your purpose is with the engine. Drag race?? Take it easy daily driver? Trying to get land speed record on the salt flats??
Slide underneath and count if you have single relief plug or dual?
Next time you have the fan shroud off look to see if the engine number is stamped on the case seam under it. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

I'm too old to set any land speed records, just a weekend cruiser. Definitely dual relief so that's cool. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

Then good and good then! For really good engine cooling for the bus is to add the DH shroud cooling, using 35 mm wide (inside measurement) cooling fan and modifying the shroud for installing 40% bigger type 4 cooler. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |
