old beam out spread beam in just has to have the tubes rotated in the end plates to set the height. Also set up left rear spacer lift plate to get ride height set

G'day all. how are you in the states & beyond. spent some time this week on front beam still have to centre the bottom tube & finish off the spindles but this will give an idea of where it's heading
1st is sitting at standard height against milk crate
after the spread beam & rodeo spindles are fitted up
the cause of the severe camber the bottom tube has to move across to centre
Once I have it lined up I can start to make the front differential mounting cage |

Sedona is full of great red rock cut like central Auzzi- but they can find you here if you fu-
Make sure you visit Quartzsite in the winter.- (summer down under) as we have a big rock/junk show going on. Lots of your countryman flogging Opals and scrap rock from the iron ore from round the NWT.
Give us a call can show you the sights and Pizza n beer. _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Some days I just sit.

G'day all. Thanks to all out there following my build hope your enjoying ECLECTIC slowly coming together. Due to lack of space I have to build custom headers so this is a couple of hours work still to fit collectors. This is the left side. due to pulse of firing order it's the harder side to make.

G'day all spent some time sorting out the speedo drive I have to put the Toyota electronic drive into the Nissan transfer case. to do this I need to machine down the Nissan shaft to fit in the Toyota housing then machine the Nssan housing to create a sleeve to allow the Toyota drive to fit into case. this will give me the VSS for the motor and hi ace speedo

G'day all. Solved another mechanical issue. The McLeod concentric bearing uses a flat contact area on p/plate the Daihatsu. so I had some time searching parts book for a replacement everything I looked at had to have a sleeve made to mount to the unit. so given the cost I decided to have a sleeve made to go over the original unit here's what I come up with
this is the original unit
this is the profile of the Daihatsu unit note the rounded face
this is the front of the sleeve
this is the rear
this is both before being pressed home the unit next to it's the Daihatsu

G'day all. bit of progress on front differential. bolted the front beam in & started locating the rack & pinion
ernie
The parts required to put the Toyota electronic speedo drive into the Nissan transfercase
the red drive is Nissan it had to be machined down & a slot cut into both sides to fit onto the Toyota shaft. The aluminium ring is to allow the drive to sit in tight
The ring going on

I guess it's time to get started on my own 71 Ernie.
Went out yesterday with my die grinder and had a go at the front where the Radiator will be. Got a good start and then came the problems. Decisions-Decisions. I had started the cut to install a 84 Vanagon radiator that I had laying around, but it is way deeper than the one from the Subaru. The Subie also has 2 fans but is a bit wider and shorter than the VW one. I'll post pictures once it's installed.
Have most of the harness for the engine done and will get an adapter to the type 3 automatic in a few weeks and should have the engine in the bus within the month.
I'm going to use as much Subaru stuff as possible. I had already decided to use the Subi fuel pump but to simplify that part and few measurement later I'm just going to install the entire tank in place of the 71's. Need to do a little metal surgery but much less then modifying the bus tank.
I'm putting the basic's in now so I can drive it as I collect soda cans to save the money to get the kit from Todd to put the 5 speed Subi trans an SVX motor in. and during that time I'll build the front end with the hub carriers. I wandered the junk yard today looking at hub carriers to use. I drug home hubs from a 97 jeep wagon for some R&D. The bus spindle seems to be 6" inside and the jeep is 7 1/2". What were the ones your using and the mount plate you emailed me increases the width from original by how much?
Thank's again and I guess I should start my own thread so the arm chair builder and supervisors can point out my faults and tell me how it should be done.

G'day all. Out there. I pulled the front beam today to do the final fitting off diff & power rack & pinion plus sort out the length of axles. The diff had to be offset to go beside the sump not under it. I think it will have 2 shafts minimum possibly 3 sections. 3 sections will have a standard universal joint & diff flange on both ends the centre section will have a centre bearing joint on each end of it.
