|

here in Portugal is usual to see the '72 model with late bay front clip
this particulary bus is a '71 production bus.
the owner is restoring it, but is going to keep the late nose. he says he has found period info that it was factory option
have you guys ever heard of it? |

That's news to me, does he have any literature or period photos to back up that claim that we can see?
What's going on with that front wheel? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

That's no 71. And the front bumper is proof that it isn't a factory nose. See how the corner has been cut to fit the bumper over the protruding nose section that only later buses had. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. I'm sure it's a '72 model because I know the chassis number
here is a photo of back end
probably they have some time in the past replaced the whole front clip |

Ok it is a 72, and I am pretty sure there was some late 72's that have high front turn signals, maybe not though. It should be obvious if the nose was welded on from the paint colors but all I see is green on everything. _________________ 1971 Deluxe Sunroof Bay 1905 stroker, dual idf40's, 74mm Scat forged crank, engle 110 cam. You can tell by the engine lid it is an early 72, so it is probably not transitional, the front. It looks odd/not quite done at the right, at the bottom there so it is probably put on it seems.

the file the owner said he had is from the portuguese dealer which instructed how to change a early bay front clip to a late one, not a file about the question on first post

So, it's not original? A repair? Best way to see is pics of inside of nose panel(backside, behind instrument and kick panels)? What's up with the front wheel arm, later wrong/model/style- or bent? What differences in Euro and US 72's? |

front wheel arm has been welded
US '72s had the type 4 engine and Euro I think it was optional |

Well- broken ball joint arm, no wonder it as a replacement nose. Better have a good look at the rest of the chassis. |
