It's a slow couple hours a day process. We would love to see a fair condition 36 or 40 horse engine show up on our doorstep. That's the last thing we need. We would even go for a old SP engine. We used to have engines laying around everywhere but nowadays we got nothing. |

Just saw a used AS41 case (stock) for $400. It is ridiculous what people think stuff is worth....

Nah, I put a bone stock 1,600 single port with a doghouse on it & it has been absolutely dependable.

I want tall SP Aluminum intake manifolds. Would love to cast my own.
One barrels and velocity stacks. I've got the early valve covers already. However, we will probably settle with what we get. |

Count me in the single port minority
Single port 1600 is the best engine .. I use them every chance I can..
Usually if I dive in... mine at least get an Engle 100 cam, better valve adjusters and light flywheel.. wakes them up a bit.
Oh.. and I love straight cut timing gear whine.. ...
I have one with homemade dual carb manifolds and Type 3 carbs on it now.
It's plenty peppy enough for me well. for a vw. ...... it's the extra tinkering time I can do without
