Before you get too much further, it looks like you need to go for some of those MG triple wiper arms to get enough sweep to clear the windshield. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

If had your skills ... I would have went 49 Merc inspired dash on Op X.. but Im biased and have all the parts ..
BTW who are you using to cut your glass?... my local cutter has laid down on me..
She's had my good used windshield for a month .. and I missed my planned Dub Day despider webbing run

Haven't decided 100% on glass yet. A local place called Allglass in town claims they can cut and edge polish flat laminate.

Stink bug...yeah..that time of year.
Good luck...I'd recommend my glass gal...but she just broke #2 replacement windshield for Op X.
But ..in her defense done. ..its not flat glass.
She said it was fine until it cooled down from the laminate melt and sanding.
From a family of local glass cutters..who has served our family well over 40 years both in rental and auto Kustom stuff its hard to really be mad about it..
I have one more used ..but..
....its getting expensive.. and frustrating..

Front fuel lines ready to layout. Being aware of dissimilar metals reacting, it's just a layout.

Just on a side note, your fenderless Bug having a corvair engine and all that applies, is wild as hell. It touches off on early hot rod history, Chevrolet, all kinds of stuff. Glad your out there. |

Well I'm certainly appreciative of the nice words.. ..and nudge of encouragement,..
That whole cross over old school red headed step child American GM flat 6 to hot rod powered VW was my whole love for hacking it together.... as I noted in the build .. it was like it was meant for me as a lifer GM tech.. to do..
I just wish I had your metal mending work skills.. : .. it would have turned out much more refined.. ...
Windshield #3 now at the hands of das butcher . all . .well most appendages crossed.

Now all aluminum, as much as possible, no stainless steel aluminum mix. From tank to rear horns. 100 micron before pump hopefully.

My floor pan is still away with the body, but you have inspired me to change the brake pedal/master cylinder set up.I got a booster and cylinder from a Mazda 3 to adapt.I will put it all under where the fuel tank would normally sit. At right angle to pedal movement like yours.I will make a new fuel tank to fit low in the tray.I may be able to use the 22mm VW master cylinder as well.Keep the pics coming. |
