Kinda where these will be. Not for sure. May start all over. May not. they are just hanging down not in position yet.

They won't be this close together but all four end holes line up when latched. This is how it will look under the hood. Just the little sharp leaflets stick outside the hood.
These are the two dobbers that stick out to allow hood latch handles come up and press against.
The dobbers are long just cause we haven't made an end yet. They should be very short. |

I have to admit I still have no clue where you are going with them, but I'm more intrigued by every post. Can't wait for the aha moment when it actually makes sense to me.
I had a similar idea to make bug-like 'peencher' bumpers instead of T bars for my old chop top bug. never got around to it though. Kinda like this when viewed from above (use your imagination because the autoformatting is kinda destroying my 'art'):

I see the idea. Kool of course.
Well, the design is moving target on ours. But the rest is just one more plate with holes and then more holes. We're getting kinda stoked at the little hood latches. The tubing on ends gets sized when assembled.
Thanks man and all y'all that comment.

I Thank all y'all for the great comments. The hood latch is gonna be crazy. It being a Bug, the hood latches are the antennas. I wanted to call them teets. |

UNBELIEVABLE
Ernstben is correct,this is art.
This is sculpture. No “rat rod” here.
I wish you could hear me yell out YES! when I see these parts come together.

We're taking small steps. Micro updates. Work a few minutes, then sit and drink coffee and draw and meditate the rest of the day.
