Nice supercharger!
BTW, do know how big of an engine it will support?
Cheers,

Unfortunately I have no idea what size engine it would support (over 1200cc)
I can try asking Ray at Speedwell |

Quick question:
If you've read through my post you know my setup, but a few questions
1) would an 1-3/8" merged header (from CB Performance) be okay?
2) I'm running a 30 pict 1 carb instead of the stock 28pci, I've bought 120, 125, and 127 main jets...I'm thinking about starting with the 127, thoughts? |

The judson supercharger uses a 135 jet. Although that is for a 28pict carb .127 jet might be too lean and you could smoke a valve. Cheaper to try bigger 1st. |

The Speedwell SuperCharger instructions recommend a 125...for the 28PCI
I'll go ahead and buy a few more jets |

My heads and pistons (Thank you Mr. Motorhead) came in and the long block is almost complete...just need new valve adjusters.
Heads came out perfect, a set of NOS 36hp heads, 43cc chambers, 33mm intakes, 3 angle valve job, port and polish, exhaust ports are beautiful for boost
Ended up with a .050" deck height for a little over 7:1 compression
Mr. Motorhead balanced the pistons for me, all exactly 300 grams
Fitted up the merged header, major pain in the ass, but in the end worth it. Going to ceramic coat tomorrow.
I'll get some pics up shortly |

1-3/8" merged header from AJ Sims (lowbugget.com)
The tubes (4 loose pieces which attach to heads) needed to be trimmed for width, which was expected.
The bolt holes on the flanges had to be drilled a few sizes larger, once again expected due to the slight difference in bolt pattern.
The pain was having to cut the flanges off the rear j-tube pieces...which had to be rotated and re welded.
Luckily I'm a welder by hobby, so it was easy, but unexpected. Of course this is why I ordered the header raw, I knew there would be modifications. It's now off to the ceramic coater
Overall I'm happy though, $140 for the header and now I have a wide assortment of mufflers to choose from.
This is one area where Vintage Speed stinks...muffler choices are slim and they cost big $$$
Once I get the header back, I'll post pics |

Updated pictures...supercharger is just sitting there for mock up.
Getting close to startup, hopefully next weekend.
The stinger is also loose, please ignore it being a little crooked |

Air cleaner is basically window screen and a hose clamp
I've worked awhile on building one, but it's too tight
Even with the carb spacer it's shorter than the stock 28PCI would be.
The spacer is tapped for methanol injection, but currently have a plug in the port.
Fan shroud is a stock 36 hp, I just filled in the coil mount holes for a cleaner look. I also modified the oil filler cap, I have the stock 54 still in original form, but took a later 36hp unit and modified it to accept the breather line.
The 009 dizzy will be replaced with a 019 soon. Need to finish interior first... |

I've seen this low profile one used before but with your carb spacer would be tight. Awesome bug BTW.

Well, blower plus straight cut cam gears equals one loud ass engine.
I hate to say it, but I'm almost regretting the cam gears. They are Louder than the blower, hopefully after a few hundred miles they quiet down.
Looking forward to switching from my 009 to a 019 from Glenn, but the engine runs well currently. No oil leaks.
Time to finish the interior! |

That merged header looks good and sits nicely on the car. Hope you either get used to the sound or it gets a bit quieter. However it is still a small price to pay for such a cool engine!
