What model / year is the following parts from?
Quote: |
Type 2 steering nuckle (214 405 301Z Left and 214 405 302Z Right which when mated to King pins (214 405 365Z Lower and 214 405 367Z Upper)

none of those parts numbers show up in any of the six different split window bus parts lists that I have.
214 would seem to indicate right hand drive.
the Z suffix is odd. I can't remember ever seeing that.
you might have some bay window parts or vanagon parts. what is the application? why are you seeking this information? |

Maybe the right hand drive is correct because the info I've got is from Australia. The parts are used on a car called Country Buggy made Downunder. The guy I've been in contact with said the parts are the same on early T-2's so that's why.
I'm looking for options regarding raised spindles on my T-82E project...
Thank You both (Lind and Meyer) for the replies! _________________ ~Kris~

the car was not originally what it is now. I believe it was made to resemble a Karmann police cabriolet. I was really impressed by it. they guy did a great job on it. I saw it a the party at BBT before the cruise to bad camberg last summer. the only thing I didn't like was the overstuffed top. |

This web page: http://vwjudsonregister.tripod.com/richards_karmann_page.htm suggests it is originally built as such:

"It’s thought to be a unique example of a Karmann Cabriolet made for the West German Border Police. One of a kind unless of course you know better??" |
If indeed it is original, this would mean the raised suspension is not a clever mix 'n match of VW components by the guy who restored it. But it could be exactly what VW / Karmann did in 1952!?!
