Anyone with the later splits that has door check rods found a cure for the loud click these make when opening and closing the doors.

I haven't found replacement pins, although I'm not sure that this would fix the noise since I think the pin and the bores both wear. I've tried to find the thickest grease I can, but haven't found anything thick enough. Curious to hear if anyone has found a good fix.

Is the "click" you describe the 'breakover' the check rod makes when it engages in the locked-open position? I know my '66 doors got incredibly louder when the panels came off for interior work. Are your panels on or off?

Bruce, thanks for the link, I never found it before on WW- I must not have tried hard enough!

The click is with the door panels on, and is as you describe- when the cam/bump on the check rod cause it to transition from tension to compression.
