Surprised no one bought that bus when you had it for sale, guess they could not see through the ugliness to the beauty within. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Very surprised it didn't sell either. It even has the rear bumper with it. Just strip the paint and see what happens. Good luck with it. _________________ For lastest finds check out

Actually there were a few ready buyers but the deal never 'closed'. So I took it off the market. It's the type of bus that I used to drive the crap out of, but then I took a detour and started painting them. (They get shiny, value goes up, and my desire to drive them goes waayy down).
Now I am inspired by this guy;
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5...highlight=
I don't have as many cool ideas as him obviously, but I like how he LOVES his bus, and when he has an idea, he just does it. I was handcuffing myself and most of my buses wound up being sterilized (they get like that after you clean, sand, paint).
No plans for it except to get it running/driving/safe and cleaned up! (Inside is disgusting!!). _________________ "There is only one sin; disconnection from self." |

Step 1: Get the doors to close. I wouldn't have kept it if I couldn't figure out the cargo doors. This is the BEST they would close. Huge gap! Is it optimistic to think of a door as half closed?? (I'm thinking no!)
After a bunch of spray, BFG, they shut niiicee!! Got the magic spray all over, but worry not, it is silicone free! Please don't ask how, but it just all worked out. Block of wood, ftw!
She's been around the block.
Front door closes nice but the bottom is scraping the bumper.
NOT MANGO!

Had a nice visit from Hank (all the way from Bella Coola!). Very cool to meet someone who is as nuts about VW's as I am.
Couldn't find the holes for the emblem, so I found a VW literature approved method of mounting it.

So true I have done this to ALL of the VWs I have ever owned. I fix everything wrong with it (in my mind) use it for a year then move it on. Stupid! |

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |

That's the Kjiji bus?
Nice to find salvageable panels in there, hope there are more good surprises. _________________ The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance, but the illusion of knowledge

One of them It was on sale in Sask. Kevin in Calgary bought it, then Richard got it in a trade I think and he sold it to me. It was on Kijiji for a long time but I never bothered because I thought it was 'Mango' myself until I saw the interior pics. I think alot of people passed on it thinking the same thing. Lucky me.
Started to strip off some of the paint to see how hard it is and if it's possible. Looks fairly simple.
Took out the trans, did some cleaning up and 'just in case' maint work.
And the fun part! I carefully 'bladed' out the border of the CAA logo and it looks much better now (IMO).

Better than me! I usually get bored as soon as the paint dries!
And at the same time, I find it's impossible to resist busting out the DA and start thinking about paint?! _________________ "There is only one sin; disconnection from self." |

The bus was very filthy! Took off all the panels and my bud helped in cleaning and vacuuming it out. The 'black' stuff is a hard, stubborn surface that kept the evil out. Or 'rust' if you want to be vulgar about it.
Cleaner! Someone pulled a GGERGG!! But it's getting there.
Sweet rear mat. Is this still considered a 'sisal' mat or is that only for SO22's? What are these called? For now, I will hug him and kiss him and call him Mat.

Isn't that the normal hard board that they have in the cargo area on standards? Sisal is a fiberous material, they used it on a bunch of different Westy models. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!
