these guys were travelling from spain and heading for oslo, norway and have been parked on the edge of my local town since last monday,

somehow they got my number and i've been more just moral support rather than practical since i don't have any diesel trannys and these things are fairly rare here and generally don't just get given away for free to impoverished buskers either.

well, although these kids don't have any idea about mechanics they did manage to organise a freebie tranny in poland and even freebie transport. it arrived tonight. Cool

which was great because the local gendarmerie woke them up this morning banging on the door . seems like the police were not taking any chances cos there was 3 cars, dogs and the half the whole anti terror squad with itchy trigger fingers.

but even the doggone hounds couldn't sniff anything out so the keepers of the peace departed with threats of what might happen if the van was still parked there tomorrow. Rolling Eyes

so i've been over and pulled them with the brand new rope they had
( they'd busted the old one..........) to a free public car park in the middle of my village and told them if they get any hassle to just give my cell phone number and say call him, he put us here. Razz

time and weather permitting i hope to get them rolling again soon even if i never worked on diesels , a tranny shouldn't be too complex to change. Idea

further details and no doubt foties to follow.

in this case AIRS has become WIRS. Laughing

"new" tranny fitted today in spite of serious rain stopping play for an hour or 2.

final attachments of driveshafts and minor nut's'n'bolts tomorrow.

if anyone's interested. Razz
