I'm posting this on my Dad's account because my Mom thinks I'm not old enough to have my own email just yet. My name is Savanna and I am 9 years old so please keep it PG rated with your comments on here. Here is a video my Dad and I did of my 1960 Sealing Wax Red Double Cab. It's my first VW and my first car.

Awesome! Great video. Glad to see that more young kids are getting into VWs. Although judging by your dads garage it was bound to happen. _________________ 1966 Velvet Green Standard |

Wow, nice work! You've done more (in that 8 min video) than most adults do in their whole life when it comes to working on cars. Nice work! _________________ It's not how wide your hatch is, it's what you do with it.

Savanna,
I am happy for you, too! Your video and story made me smile. I live over in Oregon and I have two daughters who are nine and twelve. We have a 1967 camper bus and a 1956 beetle. My oldest daughter has been working with me on them for many years, and the youngest is just starting. My daughters both like to learn how to do things themselves, just like you.
There is nothing you can't learn how to do. You are lucky to have parents and other relatives who take the time to show you. One day, all your hard work will pay off and you will have a cool ride. More importantly, you will have the pride of knowing that you did it mostly by yourself. If you can fix up that old truck, you will learn enough to be able to tackle almost any project.
One day I would like to meet you at a VW show and shake your hand.

Savanna, congratulations on the DC. My daughter is age five and just starting to take an interest in helping with my buses. I can only hope she'll follow your footsteps and continue her interest and curiosity.
PS, Nice 356 engine on the workbench while rebuilding your first carb. _________________ Call your Cunado's:

That was a 59 SWR Single Cab. Hope to have some news on that truck in the near future. Thanks for all the encouraging comments. Savanna is pumped up and ready to get working on this old DC.
Shameless plug for my single cab half a million views just a couple months away. This find wouldn't have been as cool without My wife Stacey, My excavator driver Alexa and of course Savanna on site every step of the way:

So cool. Dug the video. My daughter Siena (Age 4) and I are building our Vdub (67 Camper) as well. She's been a part of most of the build, from dropping the front beam, to cleaning, and overall support. She keeps asking when we will get to camp in it, so gotta get back to the garage. Keep up the great work and best of luck. PS your Dad rocks for letting you get a car well before your sweet 16.
Good on ya Pops. |

Thats a very cool first car. I look forward to seeing you drive it.
I have a daughter who is 6 months old and I can't wait to work with her on her very own vw just like you and your dad.
Keep up the great work. |
