Keep pushing forward and be religious about doing your physical therapy every day. The pain will eventually go away. I went thru 7 months of rehab when I busted my knee pretty bad doing sports. Take the good every day, you will notice small improvements every day, hang onto those. It sucks when you are extremely active and all of a sudden you lose your mobility, you need to reprogram yourself and slow down. Trust me, things will get better soon, just a bit slower than you'd like. Best wishes!

How are you doing? We're going to need to upgrade your travelling technology so you can post while you're waiting around to heal!

Hoping you feel better!

I just talked to my Mom. She is 94 and lives in a senior citizen complex in Brookings Or. Her best friend there.........A mere 80 year old child fell and broke her hip about 10 weeks ago. She had surgery followed by therapy soon after the event.

My Mom says that she is back and active again, she walks without any assistance and is all but back to "as good as new" condition!

It CAN be done!

"maybe" good news! "May" go home next Monday June 10th with wheelchair and my cane. Wheelchair for "walking" dog outside. Allegedly won't be allowed to drive for another mth which I will definitely protest IF I'm able to. Probably easier to drive Scooby than my rusty Tercel as the latter is sooooo low down and cramped space. Vanagon much roomier and as it's my right side that's broken should be able to swing up and in and slide outwith my left foot and hand hold. ! I can weight bear and move right and left legs and feet well now. It's my 'dream' plan anyhow. Here's hoping --Am going to tell Dr. that Vanagon's don't like sitting around! Exclamation By the way I wear a different Vanagon Tshirt every day!

Yep got my green tab (highest) on my cane, walker and wheelchair and passed my practical test on toilet, shower, bed and chair protocol (different protocol for each fractured area) today. Transportation arranged for HOME MONDAY, JUNE 10th! AND I don't need any more physio. Discharge will be 27 days post fall, 25 days post op and 18 days rehab. Now on to getting driving again. Z

YAHOOOOOOOO! I'm home and what a mess but so glad to be back in my home. 28 days since I left for the day! Going to start bugging Surgeon to let me drive. My dog is soooo happy and the last thing to make me happy will be driving Scooby. Haven't taken any pain killers for 2 days so far. Using an analgestic lotion on my groin and hip area. Walking with a cane and will 'walk' dog with a wheelchair until I feel safr on my feet.

Been home 6 days (32 days post op) and I'm going crazy bouncing off walls. Figure of speech only. I'm walking good and quite some distances with a cane or rollator (style of walker), get tired and sore but nothing a little rest doesn't help. Not taking any of the pain killers I was supplied with, only 2 X 500mg Tylenol for bedtime.

I sooooooo want to drive, even short distances out and about. Too much time on my hands. Not being allowed to bend at the waist is a bummer. It's almost summer and the Vanagon does not like to be left sitting this long. Even if I could get down to it and start it up would be a thrill. Miss the travelling for sure and all the busyness of gatherings.

Have one wheel trans online now (Mississauga) and need to get Toronto's Wheel Trans online by next week hopefully. That means I can get out sometimes for food shopping or just plain visiting and upcoming doctors' visits.

The only thing worse than not having a Vanagon is having one and not being able to drive it. ggggggggrrrrrrrrrr Sad

First day out and about by myself. I'll get better at the ins & outs of taxis and special buses with cane & walker (rollator). Right now I feel pretty clumsy Laughing Shopped and had a real breakfast for the first time in months. Existing mostly on yogurt but did some grocery shopping for some real food today. Next excursion is Wednesday.

Hopefully by next week I'll have all my different city 'wheels trans' in position and then the first place I will be heading is down to Nelson's where Scooby is. Even tho I can't drive, I can sure sit in it and do some light work. Then maybe in a week or two I'll get someone to bring it home for me so I can at least fill my eyes with the vision of Scooby being a Vanagon! Sounds suckie and your darn right!!! Vanagons aren't made for sitting around and truth be told, neither am I. Rolling Eyes
