Anyone know of a supplier? I need the bent one. They were all over the classifieds till I needed one. BerT3 is out for ten days, or I'd see about one from him.

EDIT:

OK, I think EasternNotch has this handled for me. The Type 3 community is great. Very Happy

I was thinking (if the Boss approves) we could continue this thread for people to post up for stuff they need... ONLY IF you've tried the Classifieds and eBay FIRST, and it's a part that's really holding up your project.

I know about "want ads" but have never had any luck with them, either here or anywhere else. That's why I thought I'd post a thread rather than a WTB and then wait weeks for no results to roll in. Laughing

If it's OK with Everett, maybe we could even pin this up above.

If you don't like this idea Ev, then all I can say is "Mr Barnesachev... TEAR...DOWN...THIS...THREAD."

It is all yours Tram. This community has helped me out so many times with know how and parts. Funny thing is I was holding that tie rod end for a car I don't have (yet) a 1969 square

Parts I need really badly are rear arm rest for my Notch, mine are pretty rough.

Thanks Man... PayPal sent. Sorry I don't have any Notch stuff.

It might be good to list stuff we have to swap/ will swap for to help each other out in this thread.

For example, I have some FI stuff, and I'm dismantling a bunch of 1960s Mercedes wiring harnesses. I'm only bringing the Benz stuff up because MB wires are oftentimes the same color schemes and gauge as VW, the only difference is that the tracer colors are "squiggly" rather than straight or "barber shop pole" style, so I can usually match whatever wires you need for restoration purposes. Don't forget- all German cars are DIN specs, so they usually use the same primary colors and tracers for the same components.

This side is the worse of the two, the foam underneath is actually OK really just need to be recovered. Would like to find a covering that is close to the original pattern.

go to your local upholstery shop and ask for 4 way stretch vinyl.

mine started out with an elbow sized hole in it. i used gorilla glue in the hole, let it expand and trim to flush when dried. then contact cement the vinyl on.
it will look like new.

Just Dashes in Burbank Ca does that 4 way stretch vinyl and does type 3 pads and arm rest. They have several grains to choose from and are real close to original. I will be taking my notch dash and armrest there when it gets to that point and they can fix even the worst damage and cracks. I sent them a pic of a type 3 dash in 4 peices and they said they could do it. Give them a call or shoot an email to them. Randy

The material would be OK for armrests, but their dash repairs are a LOT of money for "uhhh.... Not.... exactly Rolling Eyes " in my opinion. The dashes look "fat" and the grain isn't right, but the biggest giveaway is the speaker grille.

This may seem silly but I would really like a set of the metal inserts that go inside of my new shocks. I don't want to press the ones out of the shocks that are currently on the car because they're still good. Does anyone have a set or know where to get them from? Thanks in advance!

If you could take some measurements I could turn them up on my southbend lathe.

Can you get us a pic of exactly what you need? Sounds like just the binding. Correct?

I don't really want wanted ads in the Forums - we specifically have a rule against that so that the Forums doesn't fill up with wanted ads when there is already a dedicated classifieds section.

But a dedicated thread for "Where can I find XYZ?" or "Who sells ABC?" would be fine as we do allow asking where to get things and if it's all in a single thread then... ok.
