Richard "Riqs57" Lagewaald, some of you may know him from his buskits that he was making for split window campers passed away last week in Uganda. Sorry I was misinformed about the date.
He was over there on one of his many trips building playgrounds for children.
I do not have any more details.
He was an alumni of my High School and one hell of a nice guy and great craftsman.
RIP Richard & God Speed!

Rick was a good friend of mine, though we only knew each other for a few years. He was one of the most quality individuals I have ever had the pleasure to have known.
In honor of Rick, I am planning a "lantern light" memorial Saturday night at the Blackstar camp-out for anyone who knew him, even if only digitally. Going by his house tomorrow to pick up his lantern and yellow camping chair, he will be there in spirit. _________________ Michael (aka Brickhaus)

Wow, I am shocked. We had spoken not to long ago and caught up after being out of contact for a couple years. Does anyone know what happened? |

Oh my gosh, that is such sad news! We PM regularly on theSamba and we see each other on the freeway when he is in SoCal!!!! He was all excited to show me some cabinet work and trim for my Sundial. What happened in Uganda? Such a nice guy. My condolences to his family and friends.

He would be 45/46, gauging it on our graduation years. He was '85 and I was '77. _________________ "Two things are infinite: The universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." Albert Einstein

Any word what happened to him? He seemed very healthy and full of life, hard to think he suddenly passed. |

Being that he was in the 3rd world, I would bet some kind of accident.
I had posted a question about his cabinets on his thread and he sent me a PM, he seemed like a nice dude, and obviously a great craftsman, very sad news. |

Brickhaus, super nice way to remember Rick with the raffle for his last spice cabinet with proceeds going to his playgrounds for children. I saw lots of people donating to his worthy cause for Uganda yesterday at OCTO, even from a guy that didn't have a bus. _________________ '67 Beetle
