So I have next to zero options for my battery location. Thinking maybe up front opposite the master cylinder. Who has a battery up there and what model battery fits? _________________ Jeremy

Good question, I may be faced with this too when I convert to IRS. |

I use an Odyssey PC680 mounted directly behind the passenger seat. This battery can be mounted in any position except upside down.

Those dimensions look perfect. My concern should be with only having 170 CCA and a battery cable that's 8 feet long.
Does that battery have any struggle cranking your buggy? _________________ Jeremy

My solution was to cut about 1.5 inches off bottom of battery box and glassed in new bottom...
At full droop IRS arms cleared battery box...
Putting battery up front creates a situation for excessive long positive battery cable, which ""may"" cause voltage drop,. which ""may"" cause starter cranking problems...

PC680 is mounted behind the passenger seat so the battery cables are only about 26" long. No problem on cranking power. Fires right up every time. |

Mine is over the beam but I don't have a gas tank up there.
I started my race car engine with a lawn tractor battery running through 10 feet of cable for both terminals. But I use #4 welding cable with soldered lugs. No problems even when hot.

The Speedster crowd has their batteries up front. Use the correct wiring and on all but the most radical engines you won't have an issue |

Here’s a pic of my current car with a battery cage I found on Summit.
