Fall of 2019 my dad and I drove to Vegas from east Texas to get a 61 kombi. It was a stalled project completely disassembled but 95% complete. Body and paint are now done and we are prepping for re-assembly. This is going to be the build thread if you will.
I would appreciate any tips and feedback. We have all new rubber, new wiring harness. Going to run new brake lines. Would like to get suspension back in first to make it a roller. Anyone have any tips on order for reassembly?
The name...my first vehicle was a 63 micro that we nicknamed Lucille. Sold her several years ago so this is going to be Lucy2(Lucy too).

Thanks! It really was a great bus. Dry as a bone. It has had a nose resting, and cut fender wells repaired. Repairs were done well though. It isn't perfect but close enough for us. _________________ 1967 Sunroof Beetle: tourist pass car

The shop is in Atlanta, tx. Billy at Texas T Paint and Body did the work. Great work at a reasonable rate. Spies Hecker paint with the samba glasurit reference codes. Yes, it was single tone swr, yes I personally would have liked it that way. Do I regret making it 2 tone, absolutely not. It looks great _________________ 1967 Sunroof Beetle: tourist pass car

It is refreshing to see a standard/combi that has has the shinny two tone treatment ,ya just don't see that every day.You see the ones that have more windows and a hole in the roof hacked in much more often. Congrats on the clean looking bus enjoy!! _________________ Vw collection 60 combi ,61 panel ,62 deluxe micro,82 diesel Westfalia,88 Vanagon synchro,98 Jetta tdi,11 Jetta tdi mt ,11 Jetta tdi dsg.

Thank you! I respect the deluxes, but have always had a soft spot for the standards. This was our decision to do one right, not overspend but treat it well. We are in an area where there are very few so it will hopefully serve as an example for the vw community _________________ 1967 Sunroof Beetle: tourist pass car

The paint work looks very nice, but I have to agree with Sled. A standard it is not.
A SWR kombi is supper cool, one of my favorite VW bus colors.
So are you going to make this a full standard model bus ? _________________ ----VW's in my garage----

No, just the paint scheme. This bus was optioned with 6 popouts and cargo cards and seats though. Probably go with Clara's uber kombi card kit. _________________ 1967 Sunroof Beetle: tourist pass car

Note that if you got the birth certificate and it said "seats and panels in the back", that is rarely true, it was just Kombi seats.
This is M-code 013
If it really had panels you can usually tell by looking at the mounting holes in the cargo doors, long wall, etc. If they are super clean it's never had screws installed so no panels.
Of course if you like the look, go for it. _________________ How to Post Photos

Love the colors. Definitely one of vw's best combos.
As far as making it a roller the big thing to install before the front end and transaxle is the long portion of the shift rod. Lube and install that then your good to go with the suspension. _________________ Wanted Victoria motors licence plate frame.
