|
|
Does anyone have a clue where to buy the rubber pad that sits on top of the steering column and attaches under the dash. Assumingly it is some sort of vibration pad. It has the molding of the steering column in it. I have searched high and low. _________________ Matthew Pate

No, it looks like an circular pad about 1.5 inches in length that has a curve in which the steering column lays into it. It thinks it is to stop vibration. _________________ Matthew Pate

Sort of. More like to isolate the column from the body - if that's not there, eventually the paint will wear out where the two meet, and then you'll have a new ground path for the horn circuit! This happened to me on my 62 bug several years ago - the horn started going off at totally random times, drove me bonkers until I tracked it down. |

Can someone post where these are mounted? I'm having a tough time visualizing and I don't remember disassembling anything like this off my 59 bug... _________________ -Ryan

1959? Well, that was added when the new steering column was introduced in 1960.

Well then! That makes sense, WW shows 2 required for 58-59 beetle, that's why I asked. But I'm pretty positive I didn't remove two of those during dis-assembly. _________________ -Ryan
