I just put my engine back in after doing some work to the shift linkage too. But now it will not go into either 3rd or 4th gear. I can't find them. while driving I reach over to put it into 3rd and there is nothing there but 1st and 2nd. where is the most likely culprit in the shifting linkage?
Among other things in the linkage, I replaced the coupling. could I have installed it incorrectly?? It seemed fairly simple.
It feels like there is not enough clearance to push the stick over to find 3rd or 4th gear.

(my apologies if I am not explaining this too succinctly. It is late-night but I wanted to get this question in before I hit the hay.)

Thanks!!!

Did you remember to tighten the grunge pin and safety wire it? Did you have the shifter out? It may need to be re-adjusted, if you had it out or loose. Just my 2 pennies. Good Luck!

Bet you'll never ever do that again, mistakes are valuable lessons and even better when nobody gets hurt and nothing is damaged but an ego, you're not the first to do that. Wink Very Happy Wink

I'm quite happy and elated it was just a stupid mistake. Smile
