That is good! Very Happy I just need to be quite a bit thinner and grow gills.

Thanks! It is actually not paint. It is about 4 layers of polyester flake over clear. (need that many layers to cover the base color completely with the flake) Then about 6 layers of clear that will be cut and buffed.

LOL, I may be a bit tall for that.

I have had pine straw and a part of a pine cone in my shoe, does that count?

My daughter took this one. They think I look like a Merman or a Vampire from the Twilight Series (sparkling in the sun)

You might be a masochist if . . . you regularly participate in a hobby that covers you in shards of fiberglass and glitter! Seriously! Next time try it with a rock in your shoe - if that sounds like fun then you are a masochist.

Thanks for the kind words. I am using AwlCraft 2000 clear. It is crystal clear and much easier to work with than gel coat (clear).

Thanks! It is becoming mine as well.

Update 7/15

Sanded and flaked the outside of the body yesterday. I did not have time to do the inside of the tub. I knew it would be brutal.

I would recommend a Tyvec suit for anyone trying this. It was too hot and humid here for me to wear one. Also be prepared to wear flake for months after doing this since it will be everywhere.

Here is the body with a few coats of clear over the flake. Need to put about 4 more on and the cut and buff.

Also be prepared to have strangers tell you that you are sparkling. Very Happy

I am not sure how the candy red would look. This flake is basically a solid color and I do not know if you are going to do a silver flake with a candy top coat. You can always do a test and see how you like the look. Or start on a smaller part that you can sand it off of easily if you make a mistake or do not like it. That is what I did.

David
looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Nelson
Thanks, I really like it too. Also thanks for looking in the registry for me.

Nick2k
I used Meadowbrooke Inventions 24P .015 polyester flake.

http://www.meadowbrookglitter.com/hiband/polyester-jewel.html

It is a close match to what was originally on there but a little less silver. I will do a step by step in another thread soon.

Bud
Good seeing you and thanks for the delivery!! You really need to post a picture of it in the sun.

Joe
We have had a fair amount of rain as well, I have just been dodging the drops when the rain clouds move through.

Good thing Vince doesn't live where I do. He would never get to spray anything. It has rained here twice. Once for 31 days, and then again for 25 days.

The flake looks great!

What type of flake was it, and how did you apply it?

Any tips would be appreciated, I'm dying to do a lime green flake.
