Ok here is my problem , last year i had just picked up my Manx after having some minor adjustments and my top assembled , I am on my way home its windy and the top flys backwards will I am driving ,put to stress cracks in the top about an inch long .
It does not fit into the groves of the windshield ,some people drill 2 screws one on each side to keep it in place. I am one that does not like the screws in the windshield frame.
It is held with tension spring that are bolted to the top and bolted to the roll bar.
Not sure if my angle of my windshield is off a bit and that's why.
Any ideas
How have you attached your hard top?
thanks Marc

Marc,
On a good day the fit of a hardtop is a bit on the chancy side. It is very unusual for them to blow off.
I have seen them mounted to wooden blocks on the inside, mounted with screws to the windshield surround. You name it and someone has done it. One of the cleanest mounts I have seen is to use a couple mirror clamps on the windshield surround. Dan’s performance has the clips.
If you can wait for MOTB, then you will be able to see several buggys that use these clamps.

Presuming that your rollbar & windshield frame are parallel & on same centerline left/right, you may find that front of hard top is not 'square' with windshield frame & lacking in proper engagement with windshield frame lip. At this point, you punt...

For what it's worth dept, this method worked for me and at least one other buggy owner. This works best if you hinge the top for entry/exit but would also work using a solid mount. You have to make the aluminum brackets but the windshield clamps are available from several sources. This is stable at 65-70 mph all day.
Hope this helps.[/img] |

I used a couple 'suitcase latches' at the front, pretty much like this:
Tiny tiny bracket mounted on the underside of the windshield frame, latch mounted on the inside/ roof obviously.
You can get those a million places for a couple bucks, I may have bought them at Summit Racing.
And the thumbscrew at each corner in the rear- with a threaded anchor mounted underneath through a hole in the body. But I have almost a full hardtop, not just a roof, that I wanted to have the option of removing in a minute or two if I ever wanted to. _________________

They are mirror mount brackets for a Manx windshield. |

This would also be my solution if I were doing this...
Windshield brackets at one time were available at "Bugshields by Dino"....

Frizzard man, in your first picture it looks like the hard top's front lip is not sitting within the channel of the windshield frame like it should be. It looks like it is overlapping the entire frame. I'm working on installing my hard top, and really like the solution offered from England that DomManx posted. Real clean looking. |

Yes that what we have concluded , the rake of my windshield is my problem , the slant , i had a Custom shop Build this Buggy and they would not read the instructions ,which i told the many times over , because of little tricks and so and , this is what happens.
I am going to order two from England, I have another full hardtop for another Buggy, , as of now i will figure something out for a simple solution while I am in Manx on The Banx. |
