I looked and didn't see a thread on this - but am sure it has been discussed.

Whose Vanagon/Westy has logged the highest miles? They seem to average around 200k these days. Mine currently sits at 196k and counting.

Any million mile flyers out there? Suby, Ford or WBX doesn't matter. Just the airframe.

I wonder this, too. Doesn't seem to be a very high priority in our world to brag it up with mileage badges as other makes/models display on their grills, for instance.

I know I'm going to be easily passed, but I'm at 230k in my '90 van.

This was covered a few years ago, and I thought I'd up there pretty high with 265K, but there are people around here with many hundreds of thousands of miles.

I'd be most in interested in miles on original engine. I know someone has 245K -original heads too.

I got 220,067 miles w/o ever touching the engine or heads... then I needed a lift:

That was 7 years ago and mostly forgotten in the happy miles since.

I just rolled 200k with the original engine and original seal on the VW heads, in my 91 Syncro Westy.

I crushed a Syncro that had 378k miles on it...no clue about the motor,it was locked up.

I put well over 350,000 on a 90 Carat. 150,000 of those were on the original engine and 200,000 on a GEX. Our 2002 EV Weekender is going on 234,000.

From 2010: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=441281

As for mine, I haven't a clue what the actual mileage is... odometer has stopped working, yet again. Sad Rolling Eyes I figure it's somewhere around 180,000 now, still all original (heck, I just replaced the original temp II sensor!). The only thing major it's had done, that I'm aware of, are new gaskets... the auto trans, however, was rebuilt when the 3rd owners bought it.

I would think many might be in same boat as I am and cannot be able to positively state total mileage due to failed odometers. Mine came with a broken cable- for how long I dunno - but it was up and running after i got it. Now with 238,000 miles. Think about 15k of them are Bostig miles.

So, I'll throw it out there again - does anybody role with a mileage milestone badge on their van?

Seems it might just be a Saab, MB, Volvo thing?

Little grill-mountable emblems (typically issued by the factory, but for purchase pretty much anywhere) for "milestones" such as 100k miles, 250k miles, etc.

Impressive miles out there. My odo, and engine have been replaced, so I cannot be a contender, but this is great watching!
