PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR MY 66 BUS WHICH WAS STOLEN FROM THE FRONT OF MY HOUSE IN THE WESTSIDE OF LOS ANGELES. IT WAS TAKEN SOMETIME BETWEEN 1:00 AND 2:00 AM SATURDAY NIGHT (7/20).... PLEASE PASS THIS INFO ON TO ANYONE YOU KNOW ESPECIALLY DOWN SOUTH. IT IS VERY LIKELY ON THE BACK OF A TOW TRAILER.......... PLEASE HELP. I'VE HAD THEIS CAR FOR 33 YEARS AND IT'S VERY VERY DEAR TO ME! BLUE AND WHITE 13 WINDOW DELUX. TWO BULLET HOLES IN FRONT PANEL, INSIDE THE VW EMBLEM. LOTSA OF SURF RELATED STICKERS IN BACK WINDOW. THE WORD "NEWS" IS ON THE LEFT PANEL DOOR. SLG593 IS THE LIC PLATE
I AM DESPERATE TO GET THIS BUS BACK, IT HAS BEEN IN MY FAMILY FOR 33 YEARS, AND IS VERY VERY DEAR TO ME.
It has been over 24 hours and I know time is my enemy, but I am hoping beyond hope that someone somewhere might see something or hear something that could help.
The police seem indifferent to my plight, but I know that the aircooled community is not.
We are all VW lovers and this is our worst nightmare! Someone coming in the middle of the night and stealing your beloved vehicle. To us, these rides are so much more than a car. they are family members. I am asking my VW family to help, reach out look around, ask questions. We are coast to coast and we can make a difference. Thanks so much for your time!
please repost this to your facebook pages, and ask your friends to do the same.

Man this sucks So sorry to hear about this. I feel your pain. I had my 67 21 window sea blue/cummulus white stolen a couple of years ago from my apt. in Culver City and it hurts. I really hope they find your bus. I will keep an eye out for it wherever I go. Best of Luck to You.

Glad you posted as per my request. You may also want to print photos with your info and put them on telephone poles throughout your area and beyond as well as craigslist posts. Don't forget to add "REWARD" as that may get those who saw something speak up. That is how I got my cat back and she was ill & needed meds
Keep this post alive and work hard at getting your bus back. Good hopeful Karma heading your way. _________________ American Red Cross Safe And Well:

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon. |

Posted to my FB page and has already been 'Shared' by some friends...Is there any way to get a bulletin to Homeland Security & Customs about it possibly being smuggled out through a port or across the border? I hate a thief...Good luck. _________________

Make sure you keep a close eye on your home neighborhood. Always possible whoever took it has it stashed in a garage, old building, warehouse, even behind an old structure or even inside an old rental truck with thoughts of moving it when the "heat" die's down.
Also we've wrote/talked about this before, with new technology coming every day, hopefully some one will work up a small, compact car alarm at a reasonable cost that can be easily installed on older cars like our buses.
I don't nessesarily mean like a low jack system. I'm not an electronics type, but what I envision is a box about the size of a pack of cigarets that magnetically sticks to the car/bus frame in a hidden spot, that can be armed at will by the legal owner to make noise when it sense's illegal motion, when the owners away and perhaps also sends out a silent signal that can be traced by a receiver for 30 or perhaps even 50 miles if the bus/vehicle is stolen. Perhaps even to be tracked on a cell phone. Something simple yet effective, that would possibly cost maybe two or three hundred bucks at most, and not require a monthly fee to some outside company for monitoring or what ever. As our buses/bugs get more expensive and maybe even more rare, I think such an alarm would soon pay for itself. Particularly for folks that park in driveways and on the street at night. Every time I hear of someone getting their ride swiped this comes to mind |
