Greetings all, I'm interested in finding posts that show pictures of rusty Vanagons. I searched using words like "rusty vans" and the like but wanted to narrow down my search..... I know Ben up in Canada has a bunch of photos but I'm not sure what to enter into the search. |

on a Westy, pull the utility ports and drop a fiber endoscope down to see if there is any rust - you can do this as a PPI whereas pulling the cabinets out will result in unusual behaviors by the Seller... _________________ 1986 2.1L Westy 2wd Auto Trans. |

Good one Mark but.... no fetish. My sister and brother-in-law just came back from an Alaskan vacation and while she was there she took some pictures of Vanagons and Westys.
She is coming out to California for a visit next month and she hasn't seen my Westy yet. She was commenting on some of the rust buckets she saw when traveling through and asked me if mine was in good shape. Actually some of the photos didn't look all that bad.
My 82 is rust free and I just wanted to show her , via the Samba...what rust REALLY looks like. I've seen many pictures of rusty Vanagons here on Samba and was trying to track down some of the ones Ben has posted as well as some others.
Best wishes and rust free bodies to all |

RUSt you wanted RUSt you get:
First Doka rust...
Leave that old canopy on forever, and this is what you get:
Fail to maintain the hinges on your truck, viola:
Camper:
This is what happens when you let those windshield bubbles persist:
Had to replace the front panel.
And of course if you peel away that cracked fiberglass front bumper you have this:
Doka rust is cut away or replaced, waiting for the toothfair, easter bunny, santa claus, or a dead relative to help me out with the camper rust, until then it's under a tarp. _________________ ~Bryan

OK then, I have more...
Here is the brake regulator from that same van. Believe it or not, that was cleaned up and put back in service. Inside, it still works perfectly.
How about these from my Syncro a few years back...
It's much better now
