What are you guys using as an attachment point for the gauge. I have used the rocker shaft stud in the past but am having a hard time getting consistent measurements on this motor. Any tricks.

Drill holes in a piece of angle iron, machine the top flat if necessary, bolt it to the exhaust studs.

I bolt the dial gage to the intake manifold stud.

Like Quokka said a piece of angle with holes in it for the exhaust studs is easy to make and very stable once bolted down.

(For clarification the pic is NOT an actual act of measuring lift, it is for demonstration purposes of the plate only)

and keep the indacator inline with the valve stem.
