Quick question folks.
Can you shift a non running AutoStick into neutral and tow it? _________________ '69 Beetle

So, is switching to a standard trans as easy pulling the autostick and replacing with a standard trans? It there a clutch cable used with the automatic? _________________ '69 Beetle

There is no clutch cable. You might have to install a clutch cable tube inside the tunnel as some autostick cars did not have one. You have to change the engine flywheel and oil pump. Also, the pedals, shifter and shift rod. That is just off the top of my head. I may be leaving out something, it was in the 80s when I converted my convertible to a 4 speed. (now thinking about converting it back to autostick.) _________________ Brian

Ok, thanks. All that is easily overcome. Might just put in hydraulic clutch. Yeah, for a 29" inseam..... _________________ '69 Beetle

I've put done the conversion twice, both times the cars needed tubes. I think they switched over sometime in 69 to having the clutch cable tube installed even if it was an autostick.
You might be lucky and have the tube there. _________________ 1969 Beetle (Sadie)
