Hi.

I was wondering whether there is a difference between an aftermarket exhaust header on an earlier 30hp 1200 engine compared to the later 34hp?

If you're asking whether the header would fit both of those, yes, it should. Externally nothing changed that would make it fit one but not the other.

Assume that the 40hp exhausts do not fit . Though Some versions of the early exhaust from stale-air 1200cc engines/ 40hp are very very close but typically do not fit easily, but with a little work might. Especially if it's aftermarket.
but most all exhaust for the 1100/1200cc "36hp' engines are interchangeable.

the lower 1/3 pipes that meet up with the J tubes are different lengths in the factory heater box setups 36hp vs 40hp. if the aftermarket exhausts come with the J pipes, then they should fit the same on both being the same width 64mm stroke.
