I have to replace the drivers side swing axle shaft in my stock 1961 6 Volt beetle. The transmission is still all stock. Does it take the short or long shaft? Thanks in advance.

Short axle short spline.

For Tunnel case transaxle with Swing Axles
Short axle/short spline - '61-'66 T1
Long axle /short spline - '67 T1
Longer axle/longer spline - '68 up T1

Short axle long spline = 67 Bug = 27 13/16"
Long axle long spline = 68 Bug & all type III = 28 7/16"
