Long story short: I'm slow.
But I see that L3 heads are on back order, and heard that there are not even castings for L3 heads.
I've been collecting and pre-assembling a 1904 motor based on John's tech articles.
I had not ordered my L3 heads because my mock up was not completed.
I'm using a 74 mm crank,
13# flywheel,
Bus Pressure Plate,
5.325 rods,
90.5 P/C,
Engle 110 cam & Engle lifters,
with stock ratio CB performance rocker arm kit.
1.357 header/ j-tubes / single muffler.
Carbs will be dual 40 IDA's
SO THE QUESTION IS, IF I can't get L3 heads, what heads should I order?
I'd rather not have to buy different parts, because I choose "bigger" heads like L5's.
ADDED NOTE:
John says details on L3 will firm up in the next few weeks,
but I'm still curious about suggested alternates to L3's
Thanks for all your help so far.

not really.

The head castings we were using are NLA, so we are changing them.

Until we have the details sorted out, we made them "unavailable" to order.

We'll have them available again to order late next week. When we have all the details, we'll revise the product descriptions and pictures to be accurate, we just didn't want to mislead anyone and have them get something different than they expected.

The ACN L3 is one of our more popular products, it's not going anywhere!

John
Do the new castings happen to be the Revmaster castings? I have not seen if the Revmaster castings are available with 35.5x32 valve size?

049 Revmaster are the basis of our L5, L6, and L7s, but they do not do a 35 x 32mm.

If in a hurry I would just order a set of CB Bandito heads. Yes they have 40x35 valves but they are build on genuine VW 043 castings and have stock ports. If a bit larger port is wanted the 049 40x35 non ported head would do just fine as well.

i would hold out for the L3's....i like them. the stainless valves are a bit 'loud' but the work is real nice on them.

john won't do you wrong!
