I really think that car is a great candidate for inside door handles only. Just reach inside and open the door. _________________

Grab hood/trunk hinges out of an old MG Midget/Austin Healey Sprite & graft into the LaDawri. Use plywood cut/drilled to shape to mate up with hinge mounting bases, insert T-nuts through backside of holes & epoxy plywood to underside of hood & trunklid - the T of the T-nut should be facing the hood/trunk skin - fiberglass over the plywood without filling in threaded insert holes. Then you'll need to figure out how to mount latches... Voila!
External hinges tend to look like zits on a fashion model...

Take a look at the hood hinges from a Ford Pinto/Mercury Bobcat. Nice simple design. They use a rubber boot in the mounting hole that gives them a nice finished look too. I think they might've also used the same thing or a very similar hinge on the hoods of some of the Ranger pickups. |

Ford Pinto? Mercury Bobcat? Dang, Son.... HOW OLD are you??
With a little digging, the OP will discover a lot of options for latches/hinges.

If I'm your son then you're ancient. I'm pushing up close to 56.
(There's a Pinto wagon with a 302 V8 & an AOD trans in it sitting in my shop! ) |
