|
|
Has anyone replaced their glass on a late bay rear view mirror? Mine is absolutely perfect except for the glass. A couple of streaks that look like it's "etched" into the glass. The black trim piece looks like it can be removed and the glass can be replaced. Any insight is greatly appreciated. |

Several years ago I took mine to an auto glass company and they changed out the mirrors. Came out nice. If you have original German side mirrors this is absolutely the best way to go. _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

I am referring to the rear view mirror not the side mirrors. |

I have no experience with that but why don't you call up a glass company and ask them? _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

And what year or rather which style are you asking about or is the mirror part all the same?
EDIT- woops, forgot to add the link to the other funny discussion. _________________ 71 Superbug

I imagine a competent glass shop could cut/grind a new mirror for the inside mounted rear view mirror, the glass is tapered though so you'll have to find a donor at the wrecker that's slightly larger. It's likely best to let them do the whole job because most of those snap into the black part so they'll have to bust the old one out in a way that leaves a suitable pattern to size the new glass to. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
