While having some keys made at a locksmith I use, that's been around as long as cars had keys, he had a box of old but new key fobs, was looking for a bug when I ran accross this split window bus fob, was too cool not to buy.

I'm old then. For vintage (early to mid 2000s) on your scale is definitely not vintage on mine... _________________

This is a Cool Old Fob! I still have it, but it's too old, and nice to use up.
It's a dealer issue '73 fob that came with my Mom's '73 Squareback, I removed the screw thingy,
so I could put a key ring though it, and used it through college.
I had a soft spot for the '73 so I kept the keys and the fob in a box since '84. _________________ Good Luck

If this has a dealer logo on the other side, please email me pics for the dealer pages on the site. _________________ How to Post Photos

Yeah post some pics of the other side as I have one as well and would be cool if they were from the same place. |

I thought it might be from the 70's at least, have no idea how old it really is. |

Back in the '70s I had one of those from an independent VW shop in Santa Cruz (Arlie's VW). Apparently it was from a third-party fob manufacturer that also sold to dealers.
The nice part of the design was that when used as intended (with the ley encased between the two leather layers) it would not scratch anything else in your pocket. Like the cell phone that hadn't been invented yet! |

It says Ken Vieira's Umpqua Volkswagen 672-1647 Roseburg Oregon.
I have searched but could not find any info on the dealership. |

In 1969 my Dad bought a new Bug. I still have this key fob and the sales slip. It slides apart and you can put quarters inside. I would like to find a plate frame from this dealer also
