The non pressurized tank behind the licence plate of my MV 2.1 86 has a tab at the top with three small holes that lead into the tank.

My searches have turned up no answer. Is there supposed to be anything that plugs into the top of this tank or are these three holes just a breather of some sort ?

My Bentley only covers up to 85 and i found no reference to it anywhere

Part number 025 121 403

Just a breather, don't stop them up.

Yeah -- 3 holes, double redundancy I guess.

That tank is not pressurized so there has to be some vent and, should something untoward force lots of coolant into that tank, that is where it will puke.
